The Diva has landed ……… landed himself in hot water throwing a strop at the dinner table and then stomping his feet and shouting “I’m not going” when I removed his uneaten plate after 30 minutes and sent him to bed.
Needless to say he is now in bed and despite an Oscar winning performance from his room of wailing and gnashing of teeth …. which was totally ignored as I did the washing up. 30 minutes later he is out cold and I am wondering whether gin is the solution.
Well my chemist friends tell me that “alcohol IS the solution” but I think they are being all clever and scientific on me. They can play around with their alcohol all they like … I intend to swallow mine!!!
He has actually had quite a good day ….. cereal and OJ for breakfast …………….. ignored pleas for crisps mid-morning. Bit of a whinge but passed quickly when the lego came out.
Quite a big lunch of a toasted cheese and tomato sandwich, a Pink Lady Apple and a salad (of all the things he WILL eat its salad in a lemon dressing!!!)
Ignored a mini whinge for crisps mid afternoon. I think he would much rather graze all day than focus on eating meals … meanwhile in the real world I would prefer he gets back to eating good, wholesome, nutritious food at mealtimes.
He even helped make dinner tonight – he made the salad almost all on his own …he still finds it a challenge to slice onions … mind you we all do sometimes.
Our main dish tonight was pastichio – a Greek version of lasagna. Meat and tomato ragu, macaroni and a cheesy top layer made with quark, yogurt, eggs and parmesan.
All was happy in the kitchen … cheeky and chirpy right up until we all sat down as a family at the dinner table …………. then it all kicked off.
So the big kid and I enjoyed our dinner and after 30 minutes of our little Diva in full flight I picked up his plate, slid the food into the recycling bin and sent him off to bed. No drama, just straight directions until he went.
So I guess that we get up again tomorrow and do this all again ….. but no way will I be letting him go back to stay with his Grandma if this is the performance she has been getting every mealtime.
Who would have the energy?? … still if it takes me every day of the summer holiday to make sure he eats without all this fuss then so be it.
Still … the big one and I agree that he missed out on a pretty tasty dinner I can tell you … and there is even leftovers for the big ones lunch tomorrow which is great. Promise to write up the recipe soon for us all.
In the meantime ……. silence … and aint it wonderful???
