Payday .. YAY!!!! Blimey – such a lot has happened since the last one at Christmas hasn’t it?
I confess that I almost missed that today was payday – we have been rather busy with the Article 50 Amendments and it was only when my fellow “crazy co-worker” reminded me that I ran out to the hole in wall to ….
…. print out the monthly mini-statement that gives me the state of play of my mortgage immediately after my pay goes in every month.
Yeah!! I know – I need to have more excitement in my life than this right?
Now – since we last played this game I can utterly confess that there has never been one month when my mortgage did not drift downwards. Sometimes it would be just a little bit .. a few more focused months it would be a lot more but every month it was down something.
This month I had a lovely round figure in my head .. a lovely “tie it up with a bow” neat and tidy figure that I was hoping would make the perfect Feb First reveal.
Did I make my target? Did I hit that goal?
(not by a lot)
Actually I missed my superduper shiny target by just £20.42 …… Sheesh!!!! If only I had kept a closer eye on that I could probably have figured out a way to hit that beastie right on!
So …… do you want to hear where I am?
Well ….. way back then I bought my house for £140,000 …….. with an active mortgage after forking over every spare penny of £126,000. Interest only at the time was a smidge over £600 and life was TIGHT!!!
Now … well I have paid off a chunk, interest rates are the lowest they have ever been and my interest payment every month is just a teeny bit over £140 ….
SO HOW MUCH IS LEFT????
(Drum Roll) ………..
£74,000 … and that pesky £20.42 of course (Grr!)
In fact in just £4000 I will officially own exactly half of my house!!! So that is my next target (and one I am determined to hit) My birthday is in June and as a birthday present to myself I am going to own half of my house outright!!
Game on my friends – Game On!!!
