Where did the weekend go? Search me, but it did. So now is the time of the week where I am juggling Sunday Tea. Kids in showers, the sudden last minute “I forgot” homework and the prep for next week.
Enough to drive a lass to drink – and in my case my tipple of choice this week is “Lemon and Ginger tea”. I mean our office pretty much runs on coffee (OK and fair quantities of gin and wine after hours) but I am trying to reduce my caffeine intake a little and love this brew of fresh lemon and ginger slices in very hot water.
Its pretty frugal too seeing as a couple of slices of each thrown in a flask in the morning brews a good 4 or 5 flasks of tea through the day as it gets topped up and sipped. Of course … if you use a fresh lemon and fresh ginger and let the remains go all crispy and dry in your fruit bowl its not quite so penny pinching is it?
A couple of slices get shaken into my flask every morning and I head off on the school-run and round to the office with out the risk of anything slopping about in my handbag.
Into the office, heating and kettle on … then boiling water over my now defrosted slices.
Fresh and zinging .. Lemon and Ginger Tea … nicer than the teabags and no waste either.
Its a small thing but it does help me feel little bit more in control of the week – I find that these little tricks help me to push on through with the illusion that I am in control and coping. Its when I feel out of control and disorganised that I find out frugal ways go to pot.
What “be prepared” tips can you share with a busy single mum who doesn’t always have it together?
