Working 9 to 5 certainly earns you a living … but you know what? Working 5 to 9 seems to be better for creating a life.
Time to start dreaming up and working on the side hustles that are going to accelerate my income over the next couple of years to make this mortgage history.
Now I wish I could be uber-motivated and throw myself out of bed at 5am to work on my projects but the reality is that mornings up here are cold and dark and cold … and did I mention dark? I know in the summer I am much more able to get up with the sun but in the middle of winter I know that its just not going to happen.
So … for the next few months its all going to be about the hours of 5pm – 9pm in our house.
Sadly they are also the busy hours – the hours of returning home, of cooking dinner, of homework and showers and reading and everything else that being a single Mum of two involves.
I want the freedom that being mortgage free will bring me. I want the security of owning our home no matter what the next few rocky years of Brexit and everything else brings. There are things that I desire that will have to be juggled alongside the “busy-ness” of being a parent.
Full-time and Frugal – well no-one ever claimed that it was going to be easy!! So now is the time to spend a few hours working out the strategies that I know work for me. The tricks that I can use with our family to keep everything rolling along whilst I dream bigger and get busier on the brewing side hustles.
Sure – I could come home and slouch on the couch and turn on the tube and tune out …… and in a year from now I will be nothing but another year older.
Next year I want to be another year braver, another year bolder, another year closer to being financial free and footloose.
Well a girl can dream (scratch that – a girl SHOULD dream!!!) … but a woman can temper that with the ability to take action even when you don’t feel like it.
And can I confess? Tonight I don’t …… but I am going to anyway!
Tonight my goal is to write out the next four months of weekly columns that one of our national papers kindly commissions. I already know what I am going to write about. I already have the mind map outlines written and sitting in my file … but tonight I am going to write and email them to my editor and clear that side hustle off of my desk till the beginning of June.
Leaving me space, perfect space, clear space to begin crafting something new and exciting for 2017.
No fancy office, no expensive resources … just me, my laptop and lots of colouring pencils
Now – cue the Dolly Parton music!!!
