So what’s the story?
I mean it sounds like such an outrageous statement of intent, a big, fat , unattainable goal.
“Single Mum pays off £125,000 of Mortgage in Three Years”
But Hey!! I figure I’ve got nothing to lose except my Mortgage Debt.
Over the last two years I have acquired the skills that moved me from £10K of debt to a Debt Free Status – the skills of economy, of thrift, of frugality …………. but ….. I also discovered deep down within me buried seams of strength and creativity that I never before had the time, the inclination or the mindset to consider before.
So I set a goal to be Debt Free and along the way I found how to grow a toolbox of skills that got me there, now I want to add to that toolbox and become Mortgage Free by learning how to be abundant and brave and creative and imaginative and focussed – all the skills I want to show and share with my growing two boys.
So how am I going to pay off such a large number?
Well it won’t be by getting a “job” – after all, right now there is a toddler in the house and although I could take a job locally, it would be minimum wage and only cover his childcare leaving no money or time for overpayments- so the route of self-employment seems to be the more appropriate at this stage – the freedom to work around the boys, around their needs ………………… at least until the littlie goes to school in 2013.
So over the next three years I have a goal to create 100 different ways of earning extra income for our family. One hundred different, creative ways to earn the sum of £1250 (1% of my Mortgage Debt). I figure that by casting the net wide and exploring 100 different ways I will discover the handful of nuggets of gold in the silt that take off and earn some serious income.
So why set the goal as being “Paying off the Mortgage”??
Well, because its the one debt I have left to tackle, because it is the largest debt we incur as a family …………… and because if along the line somewhere I can inspire a few people to play along to create more abundant life for their family by clearing debt and losing their mortgage then I will be so happy.
So will it be you??? – too scary ???? You could be right So how’s about we all take it one step, one challenge, one game at a time? That way we will find all the cogs that mesh together in our own lives that we can use to create more income, maybe a little to ease the financial pinch; maybe a lot to clear your debt; maybe a whole lot that could clear your mortgage and buy your family a dream life.
So lets play
