Getting Debt Free isn’t as difficult as people would like to have you believe. Compared to the constant juggling of bits of money when you are up to your eye-balls in commitments getting Debt Free is a doddle and much less stressful.
MUCH LESS STRESSFULL!!!!
You see there is a plan to getting and keeping control of your money .. a step by step systematic process that takes you from being stony broke to financial freedom. You just follow the steps (with the added bonus that when you are following them you can always blame me when you decide not to spend money and use it to pay off debts instead – honestly just tell them “Elaine says NO!!” and you have your get-out)
But the very first step you need to take is to decide that from here on in you are going to live within your means – no more spending money that is not yours on stuff to impress people you are not that keen on anyway. Real friends don’t care that the New Year didn’t see you shopping for a new sofa / holiday / conservatory … real friends care that your kids are fed, your heating stays on and you are not stressed up the eyeballs with spiraling debts.
So why not spend a few minutes really looking at the income you have every month – the game for 2017 is to make sure that you only spend your income and nothing else for a whole year. In 2017 I would love you to not add a single penny to your debts but instead to be focusing on some simple things you can do to free up more of your income from “keeping your head above water” things and throwing some more at paying down your debts.
Every penny off your debts in 2017 is a cause for celebration … a penny you will never have to pay interest on ever again.
Lets make this the year when we all “live within our means” where we “cut our coat according to our cloth” or any other wise financial saying you can find.
Lets make 2017 our “No more Debt year”!
