I have salad from the tunnel – radishes and mixed leaves. Having to water daily at the moment though.
I think I need to go and live in your tunnel, hex. Sounds lovely.
Haven’t had a chance to plant more seeds however we did manage to plant out some peas, runner beans and broad beans from their pots. There are more runners in pots but we’ve run out of time and energy to sort them so will just have to see what they look like when we come back from hols in 2 weeks time.
At least we’ve had some rain over the last few days and more is forecast so they should look after themselves and will ask a neighbour to pop in and water if it gets dry.
I’m glad I didn’t get my planting done this week. We’ve just had a massive hailstorm. Poor garden is looking very sad. And white.
Used up an OOD carton of tomatoes, half a tin of black olives, half a tin of ancient anchovies, the last of the spinach and a wrinkly onion to make a pasta sauce. It was too cold for salad!
The veg box and recipe box have clearly got me back to cooking, and I’m eating a reasonable amount of veg even if there’s a bit too much of the other stuff still. The abel & cole recipe box was particularly good as it had a LOT of veg in (even the meat-based recipes) and not so much in the way of carbs. This week’s recipes look fabulous, but I’m away when they arrive, so I have Hello Fresh on Tuesday. Next week’s recipes don’t look quite so appealing from either place, so I’ll have to have a think.
Oatmeal is nearly all gone, and then I’ll have to have a think about breakfasts. Possibly yogurt and granola as I have a bag of that, but it’s very sugary, so not ideal. It’s more of a pudding than breakfast!
I’ve got lots of bananas to freeze, but otherwise freezer and cupboards (and shelves are starting to look pretty empty.

It doesn't always mean that I … [Read More...]
Perfect Brown Rice is one of the staples of my packed lunch routine - a half cup (or a full cup if I am having a hungry day) as the base for a packed lunch salad makes the difference between 4 pm munchies and seeing me through till dinner. But for years I have moaned about how long it takes to … [Read More...]
